23 days, but who's counting!
www.TheBreastCancerSite.com is having trouble getting enough people to
click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammograms in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/
Also, I think everyone knows how involved I am in the Relay For Life of Gillespie County (this is my second year as the chair. Last year we raised $125,000!!!),
I feel that it is all of our jobs to spread the word, especially about early detection!!! Our Gillespie County Relay's website is http://events.cancer.org/rflgillespietx ...just in case you wanted to register a team or make a donation to my team!!!!!!!!!! PS...everyone is invited to come to my Relay For Life. It is May 2-3, 2008. Opening ceremony is at 7pm Friday May 2....be there or be square!!!!
Thanks!

Update flower bed
Well, to update my last blog...
Tuesday nite was supposed to freeze, so (for the first time this winter) I covered my plants. I put a big plastic tub on some of them, then gently laid a blanket on the others.
At this point, I notice Beau is really eyeing the blanket. He is a 8 year old, big, black lab. But, he LOVES his blanket, drags it around with him all the time.
Wednesday morning I realize the blanket was maybe not a good idea. Apparently Beau is not particularly partial to HIS blanket. Any blanket will do, especially a new one.
So, most of the baby plants survived the freeze, but the impatients did NOT survive a 100 lb dog on them.

What a beautiful day
I just wanted to write about our beautiful day in the Texas Hill Country. Today was so warm and sunny!!!!! I could have gone down to the river at my house, but I didnt want to push my luck (you know what starts coming out when it is warm!) I cleaned out my flower bed, planted new flowers, took a ton of pictures, and listened to some live, local music!!! What a day! Oh, and finished it off with a supper at my mom's house.

'The Part of You That No One Sees'
| The Part of You That No One Sees |
You are compassionate, caring, and soothing. You like other people to depend on you... In fact, you don't feel right unless you are helping someone out. Underneath it all, you feel the burden of everyone's problems. Without your guidance, you fear that many people's worlds would fall apart. You like to feel in charge, even if it brings you a lot of stress. This is all stress that you hide from everyone, this is made easy since you have few close friends, you dont like to show the real you. |
Isnt it crazy when you do a survey and it really hits home!!! I question everything, everyday...

Luckenbach, home
Ok, not to divulge my life story, but my mom was quite the free-spirit, and while living in Dallas she saw Luckenbach in a magazine. Actually I think it was the back cover on the record 'Viva Terilingua' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viva_Terlingua Anyways, that picture encouraged her to just pack up and move...to Luckenbach, TX population 3. I think about 3-4 years later, I came along.
Ive heard tons of stories about hanging out at Luckenbach. If you have never been there, it is really just a beer joint...but kinda like a whole town, maybe more like a park. Not pretty and fancy, but lots of trees, washer pits, picnic tables, people just sitting around singing and picking guitar and, most importantly, ALL of your friends. Even today, it is a little more scheduled, but they try to keep their roots.
Well, one of those friends has been sending pictures! Ive spent so much time researching my grandparents and beyond, that I guess I forgot about the immediate family. These pictures are great.

The little one in this picture is yours truly!!!
The below picture is my mom and Lee McCullough.
He is the one that wrote the song, 'Sweet Arah,' for mother. He is also the one that added the caption. hehehe

I definatly have a shortage of 'best friends' in my life right now, and these pictures make me so homesick. Ok, maybe not homesick since I live no more then 2 miles from where all these pictures were taken, but wishful for those good times of

Well...its over
Ok....everyone knows what happend to me on September 25 (if not, go back and read about 'My Horrible Day'). It took me over a month to sleep alone in my bedroom, but I did on October 28th. I quickly gained the security of WINTER. Yes, this is Texas, so calling this winter is a bit of a stretch, but it was a small security blanket. I rarely go to sleep before 2, 3 or even 4'clock, and I am always on IM or on the phone until I absolutley fall asleep.
Now....that is over!!!!!! Today it is 67 degrees and there is a huge pasture fire across the river. So, dad and I hop in the truck to go check it out.
WHAT IS IN THE ROAD!?!?!?!?! Nooooooooooooooooo....this cant be!! Keep you guessed it, the sn%^&s are already out. It is January 11th and already warm enough for the reptiles to come out! It is a good thing I dont have a job....cuz I am going to be losing even more sleep tonight.
uggghhhh!
